Play Too Strong as Penguins Fall in Three
Sets

defeat the Youngstown State volleyball
team in the first of YSU's three matches
this weekend at the Bearcats
Invitational.
Stephanie Niemer led all attackers with 14 kills for Cincinnati,
which improved to 2-2 on the season. Ruth Boscaljon and Tasha Reid had five kills
apiece to lead YSU.
The Penguins led early in the first set and never trailed by more
than four before surrendering 25-22. Reid and Suzanne Lasseigne both had three kills,
and the Penguins accumulated four blocks in the set as a team. That held Cincinnati
to a .233 attack percentage in the set, but the Bearcats went on to hit .483 in the
second set and .516 in the finale.
In the second set, YSU trailed just 10-6 on Reid's kill. From
that point, the Bearcats outscored the Penguins 15-6, including eight straight to
conclude the set at 25-12. Cincinnati won the third set by the same score.
The Penguins play the College of Charleston on Saturday at 10
a.m. and Evansville at 5 p.m. Evansville beat the College of Charleston in four sets
earlier on Friday.
