from Porshia Allen to spoil the Penguins'
Horizon League and home openers on
Thursday evening.
Butler hit .441 in the opening set and never looked back, winning
25-16, 25-17, 25-20. The Penguins, who led the Horizon League in blocks entering the
match, were able to block only three Butler attacks.
Ruth Boscaljon had 10 kills for Youngstown State, but she was the
only Penguin to finish with more than four. Jessica Wolfe added 12 kills and Maureen
Bamiro had 10 to back up Allen.
Brittany Grove had a career-high 12 digs to lead the Penguins
defensively.
Butler, also playing its Horizon League opener, improved to 9-5
overall and 1-0 in league play. YSU dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-1.
The Penguins will play host to Valparaiso on Friday at 7 p.m.
