Strong First Set
Paces Bulls to Three-Set Win Over YSU

State .275 to -.013 with the help of nine
blocks in a three-set victory on Friday
at Alumni Arena.
The Bulls got 14 kills from Dani Silvers and seven apiece from
Marisa Hornbaker and Kristin Bignell. Buffalo hit .429 in the first set when it won
25-10, and the Bulls went on to win the next two sets 25-18 and 25-20.
Freshman Suzanne Lasseigne led YSU with five kills, and Tasha
Reid and Ruth Boscaljon had four apiece.
YSU led 3-2 in the first set before Buffalo went on a 9-1 run to
spark its win. The Bulls never trailed in the second, and they rallied to win the
third. The Penguins were up 10-5 in the third set, but Buffalo scored the next nine
points to go up 14-10. YSU got within two twice, including 22-20, but Buffalo held on
to 25-20.
The Penguins and Bulls play again Saturday at 4 p.m.
