Athletic Marketing Objective
At YSU, our objective is to build

that can incorporate broadcast media, “Penguin Power” football
game day program and
“Tip-Off” basketball game program,
stadium and arena signage, season, group and promotional tickets, game
promotions and access to a campus that attracts 15,000+ students, faculty, staff
and visitors each day.

Attendance Trends
While the YSU football team
has enjoyed tremendous success on the field, that excitement has translated into
fans attending games at Stambaugh Stadium in record numbers. YSU has led the
Missouri Valley Football Conference in home attendance each year that it has
been in the league beginning with the 1997 season. Record crowds provide an
exciting venue for Stadium Signage Partners, Penguin Power Program Advertisers,
Hospitality Tent Holders and Gameday Sponsors.
Tickets
The
single-best way to enjoy exciting NCAA College Football and Basketball is
“IN-PERSON”. YSU offers the best ticket price in major college athletics through
season, group and individual game tickets. Companies and organizations can
utilize season tickets for employees, families, clients and customers. A group
outing for Penguins’ Football or Basketball is a great way to enjoy a day with
co-workers, families and friends. Information on both football and basketball
tickets are available through the YSU ticket brochures.
Team Schedule Cards/Ticket Brochures
These
multiple impression vehicles feature your company’s four color logo placed on
the back panel of either the team schedule cards or ticket brochures. Printed
for YSU football and men’s and women’s basketball, the team schedule cards and
ticket brochures are distributed to YSU fans and local businesses throughout the
Youngstown-Warren and Sharon region. Sponsors can select a specific quantity of
schedule cards and may also include a perforated coupon panel which includes a
“special offer” to the fans/consumers.
Title Game Sponsor
Being a
gameday sponsor of a YSU football or basketball game gives your company the
chance to maximize its exposure and association with YSU Athletics.
As a Title Game sponsor, your company will receive:
• A minimum of 100 game tickets for the game (Option for additional game
tickets or hospitality tent)
• Mentions and logo placement in all media avenues used to promote the game
that your company is sponsoring including newspaper ads, radio commercials,
in-game mentions on the Penguin Sport Radio network, and in the gameday football
program or basketball program
• Additional recognition with any media partners co-sponsoring the game with
your company including mentions and logo placements in any TV commercials run by
the local affiliates
• Public Address announcements during the game highlighting your company’s
sponsorship of the game
• Recognition in the gameday football program and basketball scorecard of
the game that your company is sponsoring
• A 3’x 8’ banner provided by your company will be displayed in a
highly-visible area in the stadium or arena on gameday
• Opportunity to sponsor a premium item handed out to fans at the game
featuring your company’s logo on the item (Production Cost of item incurred by
sponsor)
• Display areas can be set up inside Stambaugh Stadium or Beeghly Center
allowing your company the opportunity to distribute information and/or product
sample.
Promotions and Premiums
In-Game
Promotions, fan contests and souvenir giveaways are a fun way for your company
to get involved with YSU Athletics. The YSU Marketing Department will work with
the sponsor on creating a unique idea that will increase exposure and brand
awareness for your company through the popularity of YSU Athletic sporting
events.
Companies have the ability to participate in single-game or season-long fan
contests with “in-location sign-up. All contests are supported by YSU through
P.A. announcements, in-game radio tags and gameday program mentions.
Companies can also reach area fans and consumers through premium giveaway
souvenirs such as mini-footballs, mini-basketballs, schedule magnets, team
pictures, schedule posters, pom-poms, trading cards and other items featuring
YSU and your logo.
