Stillwagon, Formeck Named to NGCA Scholar Athlete Team
    Coral Spring, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf program had two student-athletes named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team the organization announced today. Junior Brittany Stillwagon (Bloomingdale, Ohio) and freshman Samantha Formeck (Northern Cambria, Pa.) were among a group of 410 Division I, II and III women's golfers named to the NGCA team. Release
Mikko Niemi Signs Finnish Professional Basketball Contract
      Youngstown -- Former YSU men's basketball player Mikko Niemi has signed a professional basketball contract to play for Lappeenranta NMKY basketball team in the Korisliiga League in Finland, Coach Jerry Slocum announced Tuesday.

South Endzone Scoreboard Installed at Stambaugh Stadium
     Youngstown – In an ongoing effort to enhance football game-day atmosphere at Stambaugh Stadium, the Youngstown State Athletics Department has purchased and installed a new scoreboard in the south endzone of Stambaugh Stadium, YSU Executive Director of Athletics Ron Strollo announced on Tuesday. Ten Home Matches Await as Guins Release 2009 Volleyball Schedule
     Youngstown -- The Youngstown State volleyball team will play four first-time opponents and have 10 home matches to highlight its challenging 2009 schedule, head coach Joe Bonner announced.
   The Penguins will open the season Aug. 28 with three matches at Maryland, and they will host Butler to start the Horizon League schedule on Sept. 17.  Release | Schedule | Printer Friendly
Ryan Stocke Ties for First at Mid-Ohio Invitational, Falls in Playoff
      West Lafayette, Ohio -- YSU senior golfer Ryan Stocke (Elida, Ohio) was one of five golfers to tie for first at the 45th Annual Mid-Ohio Invitational over the weekend at Hickory Flat Greene Golf Course. However, Stocke did not earn medalist honors competing among the strong field falling in the five-way playoff. Stocke carded rounds of 67 on Saturday and 71 good enough for a six-under 138. Release
