Jon Heacock Steps Down as Youngstown State Football Coach

    Nine-year Youngstown State University Head Football Coach Jon Heacock announced on Sunday that he is stepping down. Heacock guided the program to a 60-44 record during his tenure, which was highlighted by a trip to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoff semifinals in 2006. A national search to replace Heacock will begin immediately. Release

Canisius' Red-Hot Shooting Results in 74-52 Win Over Women's Basketball
     Youngstown -- Canisius shot 51.7 percent and was 9-for-17 from the 3-point arc in a 74-52 victory over the Youngstown State women's basketball on Sunday afternoon at Beeghly Center.
   YSU held a 23-19 lead 11 minutes into the game, but Canisius scored 13 straight points and led by double digits for the final 17:30 of the contest. Release | Stats
Never-Say-Die Guins Rally From 11 Down in Fourth for 39-35 Win
Donald Jones       Fargo, N.D. -- The Youngstown State football team overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit by scoring two touchdowns in the final 5:13 to end the season on a memorable note with a 39-35 victory over North Dakota State at the Fargodome on Saturday afternoon. Senior quarterback Brandon Summers tossed two scoring passes in the fourth quarter to lead the come-from-behind effort. Coverage
Strong Second-Half Leads Men's Basketball to 68-56 Win at Saint Peter's
     Jersey City, N.J. -- Senior Kelvin Bright scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and the Penguins shot 52.4 percent after halftime en route to a 68-56 road victory over Saint Peter's (N.J.) on Saturday afternoon at the Yanitelli Center.

YSU, Canisius Go For First Wins on Sunday at Beeghly

    Youngstown -- The Youngstown State women’s basketball welcomes Kent State to the Beeghly Center in the Penguins’ home opener Wednesday. The game is the first half of a doubleheader with the YSU men’s basketball team. YSU went 0-2 at the Elon Tip-Off Classic while Kent State beat Robert Morris 62-57 in its season opener.
